This workshop helps each participant to learn about what happens within a family as they face a terminal diagnosis. Most of us are uncomfortable with others when this happens, often the ill person is avoided because we “don’t want to bother them” or simply don’t know what to say or do. Instead of isolating the person and their caregivers, after attending this workshop, each participant will have the understanding of the basic physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual support that is needed.
Participants will learn everything they need to know from the time someone gets a terminal diagnosis, all the way through creating a sacred space during the final hours of life. Based on the concept of families, friends, and community members providing support and care to others as they face the end of their lives, this course is full of practical, emotional and spiritual information that will empower everyone present.
Information will also be available about the training and certification program for End of Life Doulas that is gaining momentum here in Door County. There are three levels of training that will be explained, as well the monthly Dying to Talk events happening in Sturgeon Bay. These are all helping to transform the experience at end of life for the ill and their families in our area.
